There was something in the wind:
Defeat, glory, and change.
The scent thrilled and excited.
It brought tears from drenched eyes.
Hearts pounded. Hopes rose and fell
Or fell and rose with each breath
And each blast. It smelled of
Life and ashes.

In The Wind
A Part Apart
Windows and light –
Inside but out;
Part of the whole –
Apart from it:
Never so human
As a bustling crowd
Punctuated by emptiness.
