Exhaustion Drags Downward

Exhaustion drags downward
Like a soaked cloak –
No, a sturdy shield:
Heavy enough to dispel attacks,
Simultaneously trapping
The inexperienced.

As the River Races

Millions race as one,
Merging – separate yet not:
Living, breathing speed

Possession

Cold eyes, glassy and staring,
Slide slowly across,
Like a security camera,
Emotionless and remote.
They stop with chilling abruptness
Like a gasp, never heard,
A beam that freezes you in place.
The frayed lace stirs slowly
As the head follows.
Target acquired.

The Unwritten

Indistinct shadows,
Fading into the background:
The ashes of words

Frustrations

Getting put off
Again and again, treated
Like a spoiled, needy child
Or a whiny idiot to avoid
Revealing their own lack of
Education and work ethic

The Disconnect Reconnect

A single voice
Inside my mind –
No leaping images,
Vying for time –
Fecund thoughts
In silence, sublime
And eyes more enlightened
Than blind.

Quality Headphones

Isolated in
An invisible bubble
If you close your eyes

Resolutions

Designed with care and
Erected to last:
Strong steel and a
Concrete core.
Impenetrable,
Impermeable –
Unyielding.

An overnight change,
An instant corrosion:
Gossamer glass and a
Fractured foundation.
Fragile,
Flimsy –
Shattered.

Scattered dust
Litters the ground,
Joining the rest:
Fertile ground
For building

Futility Runs

Futility runs
Without moving anything:
Hemorrhaged effort.

The Long Path

Someday, the
Long path
Over the mountain
Will start to
Yield to the traveller.
