Guzzled & Gone

We want to guzzle life,
Experience everything at once,
Now, right out of college,
As soon as we can:
Money, success, family,
Travel, and fame
Must all be now –
Or else we fail.
Even though drops
Escape our lips
And fall, untasted,
From our haste.
Lamented only later
When the cup has
Long been dry,
And we marvel at
How quickly
All our dreams
Have passed us by.
