A colorful ghost
Floats between our world and his
And back with a smile

Old New Eyes
Experiences
Mingle and merge
Familiar but
New
Seen
Thousands of times
Yet never before
A juxtaposition of
Jaded adult and
Wondering child
Ever and never:
Two dancers
Intertwined as
One.
The Trials & Errors
A step
Stumbles.
A decision
Crumbles.
Which way?
What next?
Or worse, how?
But stumbles
Recover.
New decisions
Hold firm.
Methods and mayhem –
Trials and errors:
Adventures
Well earned.
The Program
A simple program:
Data intake,
Data sorting –
Assigning values
That direct answers:
For this x, y.
Data intake,
Data sorting –
Changing values.
The same question,
New answers:
For this x, z.
Data intake,
Data sorting –
Inconsistency noted
Program questioned
By the program,
Changing values:
For this x, me.
Patience & Faith
Furrowing brows but
Reinforcing and listening –
Instead of taking over –
Except in the direst need.
Never forgetting that
Doing for someone isn’t
Solely our choice;
However difficult remembering is
In times that require
Patience and faith.
Battered and Tarnished
Battered and tarnished, the white cotton
Sheds an artificial warmth
On the still figure trapped
In the cold, sterile hallway.
Wrapped in this fading shelter,
The frail frame moves only
With each ragged breath
That echoes and merges with
The humming machinery of the hall
Like the tick of an unsteady clock,
Waiting for repair.
The Never-Napping Hare
If time is in a race car,
Then, I am on a bike.
I pedal hard and harder
Faster – with all my might.
Yet even when I make good time
It’s a race I cannot win
When time is in a Bugatti,
And I am on a Schwinn.
