The red light cannot stop you,
But metal and glass can.
Speed on if you truly wish to learn
The fragility of man.
Speed On
Caught
The seething cold seeps
Into the skin
From a seat once warm
And welcoming
While the roiling heat burns
Down from above
From the air once bright
And beguiling.
Inescapable, inexorable
They find their way in
And clash in a tumult
Under the skin
A frightful, invisible,
Heart-wrenching spin
That never quite stops
And never begins.
All
All the caring,
All the love,
All the thoughts,
Worries, and plans –
All are wasted
Without listening,
Without trying
To understand.
A Toast to Teachers for World Teachers’ Day!
A toast to teachers,
Experienced or new,
And all that kids
Have put you through.
Despite the trials,
The stress and aches,
You try so hard
To educate.
Here’s to you, teachers. Happy World Teachers’ Day!
