Dance in the Air

The feathered DJs
Strike their beats, rinse, and repeat
And the dance begins.

The Never-Napping Hare

If time is in a race car,
Then, I am on a bike.
I pedal hard and harder
Faster – with all my might.
Yet even when I make good time
It’s a race I cannot win
When time is in a Bugatti,
And I am on a Schwinn.

Family

Familiar faces
All gathered around,
Making laughter, songs, and tears
Into memories that will
Last the rest of our
Years.

Fog

A dense, heavy cloud
Consuming both earth and sky
In a haze of gray

I Had a Mind Once – I Think

I had a mind once – I think
It’s hard to remember right now
And then there’s the fact
That I’ve never seen it,
Just used it (or pretended somehow).

An Old Friend

A door to a world,
Both thrilling and comforting,
Through weathered pages

Tiny Flutists

The tiny flutists
Gather and play clashing tunes
Outside my window.

En Pointe

Shining satin shoes
Lift, sweep, and spin through the light
And into darkness

Honor

Harm none
Or, at the very least,
Never harm those weaker
Or more vulnerable.
Rather, protect them.

A 6 Word Short Story Poem Experiment: The Party

So this started with the idea that each line of a poem be a different 6 word short story. It may be more interesting as a concept than as a poem although the disjointed nature caused by the lack of transitions between the stories gives an interesting impression of the character (IMHO).

Another average day at home cleaning
Invitations: the bane of my existence
I’d rather talk to people online
My best friend is my dog
Mom, I do have real friends
Fine. I’ll go to the party.
There are too many people here!
Yes, of course I’m having fun!
Please, may I go home now?
