A Cruel Warmth

Tricked into sprouting,
Waking flowers face the frost
While winter winds laugh.

Existential Insomnia

There comes a time when I’ve stayed up so long
The lights in the room start to spin.
They blur around me. Time passes me by,
Or maybe I pass by with it
And return to my body in a dizzying rush –
No balance, no motor control –
And wonder, Did I take the first step toward magic
Or just loose a tether to my soul?

Frosted Over

The sweet light of dawn:
A gentle, glowing morning
Dulled by window frost.
